how do we know that donating that much money to post secondary is healthy for the community? And that the money will be most impactful by giving so much money to students and not over groups?

01:18:08
The CESB and CSSG are still be debated by the federal government. As such, everything regarding eligibility, guidelines and what it will look like are still pending.Given this, to what extent should we expect these potential financial opportunities to be retracted entirely, or are you confident it will exist, just the format may change a little?
Ethan Sharer
01:18:32
Is the doubled grant adding max $6000 on top of the grant you can already get? Or is that a maximum of $6000 total

Additionally, the CRA website indicates that the CESB is intended for those students who do not qualify for CERB, so students cannot apply for both.Information here: https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2020/04/support-for-students-and-recent-graduates-impacted-by-covid-19.html

Will this heavily impact the economy in the future? As in, how prepared was the Canadian government prepared to put this money into the economy?
Nadia
01:23:57
I'm not sure if you can answer this but I called Canada revenue agency regarding if I'm eligible for cerb (I made more than $5000 last year), my contract ended before covid and I didn't have a job lined up for the summer but my plan was to work. The representative told me to apply saying that I won't be able to find a job so I'm qualified. I called twice and I got the same answer but it's confusing because according to the elegibility criteria, I'm really not.

How do we apply for the Canada Student Grants, and 5000 $ grant you mentioned for volunteering in the community
Bianca Marryshow
01:25:02
CESB and CSSG are not live to apply to. They are still being debated. More info here: https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2020/04/support-for-students-and-recent-graduates-impacted-by-covid-19.html

01:28:19
do you believe that these grant/loans/and these fundings can have a negative impact on the economy in the future. what do you think about government?do we need more or less of gov. do you think their doing the right thing by giving bailouts to small businesses. these fundings are from tax payer and printing money. do you believe after covid would hyper-inflation happen as a result
Bianca Marryshow
01:29:16
CESB/CSSG are only proposals right now, currently still being debated by the federal government. Given this, there is nothing set in stone on what CESB/CSSG will look like - everything is simply proposals subject to change (for better or worse). Hopefully the federal government provides more concrete information in the coming week.

Could you please clarify the maximum $6000 you mentioned in relation to student loans and/or grants for students. Is the $6000 in addition to grants you might have been able to access already? Or is the max amount of grants you can get $6000 total for this coming academic year?
